A decorated office can make all the difference in a functional work space which usually results in a calm, organized and productive employee! We spend a lot of time talking about decorating our homes but what about the spaces we spend the most of the day at?
Here is a photo of my office at work. As you can see I don’t have a ton of decor, I prefer everything to be organized and cohesive. I cannot stand clutter! Clutter stresses me out so I try to eliminate it as much as possible. As you can see though I didn’t use traditional office organization, I used colorful containers to contain office supplies.
I took my decorated office cue from this mouse pad. It just speaks to the ocean loving, beach bum inside me. So I went to the dollar store and found these small plastic containers to hold paperclips, ear buds, post it notes, etc. The class bubble jar also speaks to the ocean vibe and doubles as a great pen/pencil holder.
As you can see from the photo I have all my necessaries within arm reach. For example, if my pen dies I can grab another, or if an unexpected sneeze arises tissues are right there. Also, my granny spectacles are within reach too for that really small print! LOL!!! I swear they are making things much smaller these days!!!!
Here are some photos of what is at the ends of the desk are. To my left is some open desk space to spread out, as well as a succulent plant which gets great sunlight form the windows (unfortunately today is a cloudy day so you can’t get the full effect) and a great picture of my husband and girls from a couple years ago. To my right I have another plant from my oldest daughter’s graduation (can’t believe how old my kiddo’s are getting) and a binder with info about the different clients we have. Plants are very important in a work space, it gives life to an office where things can feel, kind of stale for lack of a better word.
I really like these elevated shelves. They really free up the desk space but keep files that you need on a daily basis within reach. I don’t have walls to hang pictures on so you can see my family pics are connected tot he wall with a pin. This way they are at eye level and also don’t take up valuable desk space. They only one I have in a frame is at the very end.
I like my office to be decorated with lots of open space for me to spread out. As you can see from this photo I do loooovvvveeee to spread out when I am working.
This is a photo of an empty cube at my office. It’s a desk that is just begging to be decorated!
I saw a lot of great ideas on Pinterest for office decorating such as chandeliers hanging above and fabric draped around the edge. I personally like the simple approach, less is more for my work space. As I said, my office needs to be decorated but also have room to spread out. The only thing I would like to add is in the back corner (where I am taking the pictures from) I would like to add a little round table to hold my purse so I don’t have to take up space on the desk or put it on the floor. Otherwise it’s a relaxed place that I love to come to everyday!
