House Tour: My Powder Room

Today I would like to share my powder room with you.  Oddly enough, it’s probably one of the only rooms in my house that is completely done!  LOL.  We just moved into this house last August and most rooms have something that still needs to be done.  Especially since the week before we moved I had ankle surgery and couldn’t walk the first two months we lived here!  But as powder rooms go, this one is fairly decent sized and I had plenty of decor to make it what I want.

The house was built in 1985 and this room has recently been remodeled, the toilet and pedestal sink are definitely not original.  I will tell you what is original though, that wainscoting.  I LOVE, LOVE, LOVE this wainscoting in my powder room!  It is thick wood, not that cheap thin stuff you can buy now.  Somewhere along the lines a previous homeowner painted it and I love it!!!  The white wainscot with the gray washed floors and the oil rubbed bronze fixtures.  It’s like when you are cooking and everything is perfect so you touch your fingers to your lips and kiss them and say perfecto!!!! (with an Italian accent of course)  That’s how I feel about my powder room.

As far as the decor goes, funny enough I think my Mom has bought most of the decor!  The boxes on the wall she bought me for Christmas a couple years ago.  They have beach motifs carved into the sides and I think she got them from Kirklands, although I couldn’t find them on their website anymore.  What I put in them is just more stuff from the beach, a starfish, candle and these little bottles that my sister in law bought my daughters from her vacations in Florida.  I couldn’t resist adding this adorable picture of my kiddos on the beach when they were little.  So cute!!!!

The candle is from Bath and Body works, the coaster is actually sea shells and I got 3 of them in different sizes from a vacation in Miami a few years ago.

One thing I love about my powder room’s design is that the fixtures are oil rubbed bronze.  The contrast between the fixtures and the white in the sink, toilet and walls makes me sooooo happy!  I also buy my soap and lotion from Williams Sonoma.  The scent, very clean, and they really aren’t very expensive.

I hope you like my powder room, it’s small but lovely.  The funny thing about powder rooms, or half baths, is that there isn’t much space for decor and you may think all it needs is some TP, a towel and move on.  But I really like to inject some of my personality into each room, especially ones that all my guests will see.  I would love to know…..what is your favorite decor item that you have in one of your bathrooms?

Thanks for stopping by.  Don’t forget to check out what I did in my office with the decor (just click on the photo below)….hint hint…..it also has a beachy vibe going on!!!!  Is it obvious how much I love the beach?
