Mind-Blowing Organization Ideas for Every Room in your Home

Yep, it’s organization time!  Today I am sharing Organization Ideas for Every Room in your Home.

Organization Ideas Pin for Pinterest.

Okay, it’s the beginning of the year and Kon Marie has a hit show on Netflix. If you aren’t sure what this is I will give you a quick overview.

This woman, known as Kon Marie, has reinvented organization for the world. The whole idea is to only keep items that bring you joy. If an item has served its purpose and you no longer need it then you thank it and pass it along to someone else who can use it.

It might seem a little silly but for the people she helps, it’s life-changing. They are not only able to clean and organize their home but they come together in a way that brings them closer.

Bedroom Organization Ideas

Baskets

Blankets and pillows, there can never be enough but what do you do with them when you aren’t using them?  BASKETS!  I love baskets.  They are so decorative and the perfect way to store blankets and pillows.

A Gold wire basket full of my daughters blankets with a stuffed animal on top.

Benches

Another idea is storage benches and ottomans.  My Mother in Law bought three of these smaller ottomans, one for each grandchild (but then she had a 4th!) and each kiddo got to put all their toys into one of the ottomans.

You can put a storage bench at the end of your bed or against a wall with a window to create a window seat.  Decorative and functional all at the same time.

Nightstands

And let’s talk nightstands.  I keep my phone on at night because I have a Mom who lives at home alone and a daughter in college.  We got rid of the home phone line so that cell phone is the only way for them to reach me.

Thank God I keep that phone on because 14 months ago Verizon texted me that my daughter called 911.  She had just gotten into a horrible accident and if I didn’t have that phone on I wouldn’t have known and been able to talk her through things.  Thankfully, other than all three kids having concussions, they were all okay.

So where am I going with this, cords.  Cords are ugly and we really don’t like to look at them.  My friend Maria from House by the Preserve has a genius way to hide those cords and clean up that nightstand drawer.  Here are a couple of photos and a link to her full post.

Cutting a hole in the back of the dresser drawer for cords to charge your items inside the drawer and not on top.

She cut a hole in the back of the drawer and the storage box to fit cords through so she could put the charger in this box to charge her devices.

A view of the finished drawer with storage boxes to hold all her things.

Here is the finished product with lots of storage boxes to corral all her items.  The chargers are in the one box with the electrical strip behind it so all the cords are now comfortably hidden inside the dresser, not hanging out on the floor for everyone to see.

Closet Organization Ideas

I recently did some DIY organization for my daughter in her closet.  She has too many t-shirts and not enough drawer space.  So we took down one of the hanging bars and added a couple of shelves.

We also managed to get her dresser into the closet to free up floor space in her room for an amazing mirror.

Here are the after pictures.  For full details on how we achieved this check out the whole post.

The shelf in the middle was there.  We added the one above and the one below.

We bought some storage containers from IKEA and she used some washi tape to label the containers.  I am not even going to tell you how many of those bins have socks in them!  LOL 😂😂😂

I also hooked her up with some vertical shoe storage.  Now she has a home for all her shoes, well…most of them.

Sweatshirts and jeans all have a place now.  And she found a home for those tall boots up top!

Bathroom Organization Ideas

Let’s start with the makeup organization.  This stuff can get very messy and disorganized.  And don’t you hate it when you are trying to find that one shade of lipstick and you can’t find it!  UGH, that makes me crazy.  I have a post where I go through lots of beautiful, and functional ways to organize your makeup.

Here are a few pictures from that post and you can get all the details here.

Using a tiered tray is a great way to organize makeup, and also very pretty.  It uses vertical space so you don’t have to use more of your countertop!

Clear containers are fabulous because it lets you see what you have, and makes it easier to find things!

This is mandatory, if you have pretty bottles of perfume, you must have a pretty way to display them!  Hey, I didn’t make the rule, I just know that it’s a must.  And why not, these babies are expensive and so pretty.  Why wouldn’t you want to pop them up on a cake stand and show them off!

This pretty display is from Little Miss Boujee.

Linen Closets

Linnen closets are another area that can get completely out of control.

This is a great example from Organizing Moms on a simple closet organization.  She got the same type of bins and used them to put all her family’s things into it.  And she labeled each bin so they knew what was in each bin.

A linen closet with floral wallpaper on the back wall, storage boxes on shelves with labels and some white towels stacked neatly on the bottom shelf.

Here is another from The Happy Housie.  I love the use of baskets and bins and she added some color.  It’s so pretty.  She also labeled each shelf so everyone knows exactly where to put things back.  That is a very smart idea!

Family Room Organization Ideas

Clutter is my nemesis in the family room.  Blankets, omg the blankets.  My husband and my dog love blankets.  The dog won’t even sit on my lap unless there is a blanket.  She will just sit there staring at me whining.  It’s unbelievable!

I have an antique dresser in the family room that holds all my spare blankets.  I also have lots of frames and decor that I store in the top drawers for seasonal decorating.

Magazines are easy to corral in a decorative holder.  Here are a few examples that I think are pretty awesome.

Book storage is tougher.  I do most of my reading online but my husband is a true, hold a book in your hand kind of guy.  Luckily, he utilizes our library a ton which is cheap and easy on the number of books we have to store.  But he does have a decent collection.

Here are some beautiful ideas on how to store books for the book lover in your home.

I love this photo because the bookshelves are painted the same color as the trim and just seems to blend in, making the pops of color in the room stand out.

An office with tons of book shelves that could easily be a family room if you put a tv in the large opening in the middle. great storage for books all around.

I love this one because although it is clearly an office it could easily be a family room.  Put a tv in that alcove, get rid of the desk and put a sectional and you have a great family room!  Personally, I just love those library ladders!

Kitchen Organization Ideas

I did a post on pantry organization on a budget, the biggest thing I utilized are baskets to corral-like items and cans in rows so you can easily see what is there.  Kind of like how they display them at the grocery store.

My husband worked in a convenience store in college and he likes things this way.  Plus our shelves are super deep and this method makes it really easy to see what we have.

Nothing makes me as frustrated as when I go to the store and buy tomato sauce only to find I already had 2 cans of it!

My DIY organization is pretty simple and inexpensive.  That being said, some people do an amazing job of organizing their pantry, with jars that have labels.  It’s pretty cool I will admit.  Here are a few of my favorites.

I love this pantry for multiple reasons, all the baking items and mixes are all corralled into wooden crates, I think this is a great idea.  In my pantry, I have so many boxes that this would be helpful.  The jars with the labels are also adorable.  This has a great cohesive look to it.

This pantry is a lot like mine, it’s deep.  I just love the pull-out drawers, I need to think about adding that!  I love the baskets with cute tags on them labeling what is in each basket.  And the jars with cute labels are here again!

A walk-in pantry, this is my dream!  I have had three houses and never had one.

This pantry has great storage containers that are clear to corral-like items, can you see them?  I also love the fact that she can fit things in here that I can’t, like the storage bags and paper towels!  Can we switch pantries, please????  LOL
