One of my favorite things to do every year is go to the BIA Parade of Homes. My Mom and I go, we take the whole day and tour through homes with the latest design trends and get ideas. I love to see what builders do with architectural features, kitchen appliances and color. I hope you enjoy my Review of the 2017 Parade of Homes in Central Ohio.
Two of my favorite things to see are the Ohio State decorated rooms and the Christmas house! Being a Buckeye alum my heart just sings to see Ohio State rooms. This year Trinity Homes came through with an amazing OSU themed room. There was a piece of art work with the alma mater on it. 😍 And it is with much disappointment that there was no Christmas house this year. 😓 That was sad. Usually they do more themed basements, one last year was a tiki bar….complete with an ocean painted wall. It was pretty cool. Not the case this year. It’s those basements from the Parade of Homes that inspired my stained basement floor!
2017 Parade of Homes
Let’s start with ceilings and light fixtures.
I love the shiplap, the light fixture and the crown molding.
Can you say reclaimed wood!!!! I love it with those fancy light fixtures. This is a bathroom and I just loved it!
This light fixture is stunning! I wanted to take it home but it wouldn’t fit in my purse 😂😂😂
This is the most stunning ceiling of all. With the fireplace stone and the white trim, I want this so much!!!!!
Here are my favorite fireplaces
I am a huge sucker for stone fireplaces with a reclaimed wood beam for a mantle. Add some built ins on each side and I am just swooning!
This is my favorite house. This home is done by the Silvestri Group with the Interior Design done by Big Sandy Superstore. I call this the Magnolia house! Every room is done with Magnolia Home furniture and accessories! I was in love from the moment I walked in and most of the pictures you will see today are from this house. Sorry, it was my fav and I just couldn’t stop snapping pics!!!!
Lets talk bathrooms and closets
My Mom and I have total bathtub envy here. And that floor tile!!! Hello, you had me at tile….LOL
I thought this was unique, simple farmhouse bathroom with the subway tile but the shower doors were more like windows. I really like the black…the only thing I didn’t like was the way it opened. When looking at it the door to the bathroom was just to the left and this shower door opened into the entrance door. I really felt like a sliding door would have been more practical. I would totally be banging them together, or my husband and I would for sure. I love the look though!
I got pretty excited when I saw this. I have a ton of these “tree cookies” in my garage. You can see what I did with one of them by making it into a side table. The others I plan on using for chargers and other decorative accessories but I never thought of using them like this. Very clever.
Words are not needed….lets just say amazing closet!
Okay, this is the only thing I didn’t like. But let me clarify, I love the cork wall paper, for an office. In the bathroom I would say absolutely NOT! I have daughters so cleanliness isn’t as much of an issue but I have friends with sons. From what I hear they can be quite messy in there. I guess you could say their aim isn’t always on target. I can’t imagine how cork would soak up liquid….ewwww grooosss right!!! Like I said, cork in an office is spot on but just not in this setting. (I do love that vanity though, kind of a modern take on a farmhouse sink.)
This room is so cool! I love the pool table, big TV for OSU football and that light fixture is AWESOME!
And who doesn’t want a barrel table. I think they are so cool!
Other Misc. pics of things I loved
That’s my Mom on the other side of the door….Hi MOM!
Some of the things I noticed were the use of the 5th wall, ceilings were huge this year. I also noticed a lot of accent walls behind the headboard. I have been thinking of doing that for my master bedroom so that really got my creative juices going. Farmhouse style is still king, all the homes with awards had at least touches of farmhouse style. I hope you enjoyed my review of the 2017 Parade of Homes.
