2025 Flower Planter Ideas
Today, I am sharing my flower planter ideas for 2025. Let’s take a stroll through my landscaping and see what I planted this year!
It’s that time of year again, Spring! I love planting flowers in the spring after a long winter. The added color really brings my spirits up, and getting outside and enjoying some warmer weather is AMAZING!
I love using planters around my property, and every year I try to change things up a bit. I have two full sun planters in the front and three full shade planters in the back. On my patio, I have a surprise for you!

Flower Planter Ideas – My front porch
One thing I am not showing, well you can sort of see it in the background of the first picture, are the planters that flank the front door. I always put ferns in them. I also made each of the planters for less than $15 a piece!

This year, I did something very different: I used a fern in my front porch planters. I haven’t done that before. Then I added some pink flowers to coordinate with the flowers in my garden.

Flower Planter Ideas – My Deck
On my deck, I have three pots that I fill with gorgeous flowers.

I love this blue pot and I really love putting salmon or orange flowers in it! The contrast is gorgeous!

Along with the salmon flowers are some smaller white ones with a touch of color. I think the combination is wonderful.

- Iconia Begonias in two colors
- trailing Ivy
I also decided to use all ivy as my spiller on my deck. This is new for me, I usually use Sweet Potato Vine or Creeping Jenny as my spiller.
Would you like to save this?

In this pot I used a spiky thriller to add some height and some gorgeous salmon colored flowers with yellow centers.

My third pot is pretty big, so I added a larger thriller, Caladium. It’s gorgeous color variations will add a striking presence on the deck. I also added the same salmon colored flowers with yellow centers and lots of Ivy.

Flower Planter Ideas – My Patio
My patio is not used very often but I do like to add a bit of color out there. I have a terra cotta pot that is pretty big and was left by the previous owner. I typically power wash it after the pollen is done falling, and you can tell it needs cleaned.
But out here on the patio, I have a big problem…deer. I have planted so many potted flowers out here and every year the deer decimate them. So now, I am going faux!

I got these pretty flowers on Amazon for very little $$. I love how they look in this pot. And I wasn’t lying, it needs a good cleaning as you can tell. My backyard is completely in shade most of the year, and the deck, patio, and this planter get pretty dirty.

Here are my faux ferns. I also got these on Amazon last year. I think I really confused the local birds:)
Another reason I do faux out here is one less place to water. I don’t have a sprinkler system so it can be a lot of work keeping all these plants watered.
I hope you enjoy what I did in my planters this year. I would love to know what your favorite sun and shade flowers are so I can try them next year! Let me know in the comments.
