Bromeliad

Bromeliads are related to the pineapple. They need bright indirect light so won’t do well in a bathroom with no windows. While it can do well in low humidity it really thrives in higher humidity spaces.
Polka Dot Plant

The Polka Dot plant is a great plant for adding a pop of color to your space. It likes bright indirect light and steady moisture.
Cast Iron Plant

The Cast Iron plant is a perfect plant for beginners. It tolerates low light conditions, and all different temperatures, and can go for a while without being watered. This low-maintenance plant is a great one for the bathroom.

Spider Plant

My Mother-in-law used to have a Spider Plant that grew like crazy creating new plants at the end of its stems called pups. This plant does well in low light but thrives in bright indirect light. It also loves higher humidity environments.
Tradescantia Zebrina

I love the look of this plant because of the colors. It thrives in high humidity areas making it the perfect plant for your bathroom. If the leaves start to turn brown then you know it’s too dry.
Philodendron

Philodendron is a great plant for beginners. It has many varieties but you will find that the more humidity in a space the bigger it gets, making it perfect for a bathroom. It’s also a trailing plant, perfect to hang from the ceiling to create a little drama.
Lucky Bamboo

Lucky Bamboo grows in water and is a very easy plant to grow. It does really well in low light and will definitely give your bathroom a spa-like aesthetic.
Watermelon Peperomia

Watermelon Peperomia is just about the perfect plant for the bathroom. It loves humidity and medium indirect light. It even likes to have the occasional mist in addition to the humidity in your bathroom.
Monstera

Ah, the Monstera. This photo is of my daughter’s plant which I got cuttings from and traveled across the country to propagate. It made it quite well and in the last year it has grown four more leaves.
The Monstera is a perfect plant because it can live in just about any environment. It does well in low light but thrives with more bright indirect light. It can do any amount of humidity which makes it great for a bathroom.
Air Plants

Air plants are great plants that do not require being planted in soil. All they need is air and the occasional misting or a humid environment such as the bathroom. They do like to have bright indirect sunlight.
Calathea

Calathea likes medium indirect light in humid environments which makes it a perfect plant for the bathroom. It has gorgeous stripey leaves and comes in a variety of different species.
Snake Plant

The Snake Plant is one of my favorites. It does really well in low light areas which makes it really popular for office buildings where there isn’t a lot of natural light. Even though it does well in low light when it gets ample natural light it thrives and grows quickly.
The Snake Plant is considered a succulent in the aloe family. The leaves are filled with a gel that is great for soothing sunburns.
Majesty Palm

Majesty Palms love humidity so the bathroom is a perfect place for them. They also do really well in low light conditions but thrive in medium to bright light. They also love an occasional misting.
Pothos

Pothos comes in many varieties and is a great plant for beginners. It thrives in low light and only requires water when the soil is completely dry.
Pilea

Pilea is such a unique looking plant. It’s also called the Chinese Money plant.
This plant likes bright indirect sunlight and it’s self-propagating, creating pups at the base of the soil. These new plants are called pups and can be removed and given to friends and family.
Prayer Plant

The reason this plant is called the Prayer Plant is because of the way the leaves curl up at night and unfurl in the morning light, mimicking hands in prayer.
This plant loves low to bright indirect light and filtered water over tap.
ZZ Plant

This gorgeous plant is one of the hardiest you can have. It’s drought-tolerant and almost indestructible. It can grow up to 3 feet tall, perfect for a large shower. This one is a great plant for a beginner.
English Ivy

English Ivy is a classic bathroom plant because of its air-purifying qualities. This plant is fast growing and can get out of hand quickly unless you use trailing hooks to guide it.
Coffee Plant

I had a coffee plant once but it didn’t do well because I didn’t have enough natural light for it. It really loves a lot of bright indirect light. High humidity will keep the leaves nice and glossy.
Anthurium

Anthurium is a tropical plant that loves warm humid places. In order for it to flower it needs very bright indirect light. If you have a low light area the leaves are wonderfully glossy and beautiful in themselves.
Hypoestes Pink Splash

This plant is a gorgeous tropical plant with a fun pop of color. Because it’s tropical it loves humid environments. It is also air purifying helping to get rid of mold and mildew in your bathroom.
Peace Lily

The Peace Lily is one of my favorites! It has beautiful white blooms and loves humidity.
Peace Lilys also purify the air which is great for a bathroom. Just remember that it is toxic to people and pets so if you have small children or hungry pets keep it up and away from them.
Rubber Tree Burgandy

All you need for this tree is floor space, plus indirect light and weekly watering. This is a great plant for the bathroom. The only maintenance it needs other than light and water is to be dusted with a damp cloth. It attracts dust easily and the dust will prevent the leaves from soaking up light.
Ferns

If you are looking for the perfect plant for bathrooms look no further. Ferns love humid environments and don’t need a lot of sunlight. There are many varieties of ferns that will work.
They love the humidity so be sure to give them a good mist to keep them happy.
