Well, it’s week two of the $100 Room Challenge, where I transform a room in one month for under $100.  For this challenge, I am working on my kids teen hangout room.  This week the plan was to work on the reclaimed wood wall since I figure that’s my biggest project, let’s get it done first.  Well, Mother Nature had other plans.

To see what the full plan is for the room is check out Week 1.

Teen Hangout Room Plan Week 1 Plan

This weekend we got a months worth of rain in 3 days.  Now I know that it wasn’t as much as a hurricane would be but it was a lot of rain and it really hampered my progress.

I went to Menards to get 1X6 boards in 8-foot length, I can fit them in my Mama mobile (aka minivan).  But they didn’t have them in 8-foot lengths, only 10 and 12.  That won’t fit in the Mama mobile.  😫

So we needed to use the hubby’s truck but we couldn’t because of the deluge coming from the sky outside!!!!!

Change of plans…

Teen Hangout Room Week 1 Plan B

Instead, I will refinish the coffee table.  I needed to get something done!  So I pulled that puppy outside under the deck, yes I still got rained on but it wasn’t too bad.  I sanded the table and brought it inside and began to put the gray stain on the top of the table.

The stain wouldn’t take.  You could see it a little but the color of the wood was just too strong for it.

I had no trouble using this stain on my dining room table that I refinished!  So what the heck????

Change of plans…..

Teen Hangout Room Plan C

Let’s paint it white!  Okay so plan C is now to paint the table white this week.  And that is what I am doing.  So far I have 2 coats of paint on the table and I do believe that I love it white!  It’s going to make a good contrast with the floor and couch.

I need to put 1 or 2 more coats of paint on the table and then seal it with polycrylic.  I can’t help but wonder if this is going to be my difficult project and not the wood wall, I guess we will see.

Now my only concern for this weekend is Hurricane Florence making her way here to rain on us some more.  Fingers crossed she stays away!

On another note check out the wood table there.  That is my Grandmothers table and one of the legs came loose from the top so I had to do some work on it.  I decided to sand and stain the top too since it was a little worse for the wear.  After sanding and one coat of stain, it is looking so good!  I love it!  I hope she does too.

Wow Wendy! You still got a lot done even with everything that happened. And you’re right, I like the table white. It’s a great contrast!
