It’s that time again!  It’s time for the $100 Room Challenge.  I am so excited.  This time I am redoing the Teen Hangout Room and incorporating some cool Teen Room Decor.  If you are unfamiliar with the $100 Room Challenge then you should click here to get the story on how Erin at Lemons Lavender and Laundry got this started.

This space already has had some work done but today, I am making some final adjustments to make this a space any teenager would want to hang out in!

Teen Room Decor, Teen Hangout Space. Here we are participating in the $100 Room Challenge and renovating our basement family room for my teenagers.

As you will see from the pics this room is a catchall.  It’s the room where when something doesn’t fit in another space, it goes down there.

I already pulled up the carpet and redid the floors.  You can see my basement floor reno HERE!

Okay, let’s get into the pics….I will warn you that some of them were tough to take with the sun coming in the windows.

From the top two pics (sorry they are crappy pics!  the sun coming in was really throwing me off) you will see the wall that’s getting the major treatment which will be the WOW factor!  I am planning on creating a reclaimed wood wall on the wall with the sliding glass door.

Don’t my kids have an amazing view!  Geesh, I just love it.  That’s pretty much the reason we bought the house.

This table above has a long history.  It started its life as a table in a teachers lounge.  Then when they renovated my Mother In Law gave it to my husband and I as our dining room table when we first got married and only had a small apartment.

For a long time, it was a craft table in our last house in the unfinished basement.

When we moved here it became a coffee table, my husband cut the legs down so it would be a good fit for the kid’s couch (which is from Ikea).

This table is getting a makeover too!  The bottom of it will be chalk painted white, the top refinished with gray stain.  I think it’s going to look great with the stained floors!

Hello, does anyone recognize this?  Yes, it’s a record player or turntable LOL.  This is the record player that I bought when I was in HIGH SCHOOL!

I am not even going to tell you how long ago that was but my younger daughter loves it and bought an Adele record to blast on it.  I have asked her repeatedly if she really wants it in the room and she says she does.  It’s her teen room so I guess it’s going to stay!  Record player as teen room decor, so shaking my head right now!  LOL

I feel like it needs something done with it but I haven’t figured out what yet.

And this disaster needs some serious help.  Here we have artwork, books, CDs, and DVDs.  You can also see the WII which my older daughter took into her bedroom and never returned to its rightful place.  Do your kids do this, can you relate?

So not only does this area need some serious organization but this needs either a makeover or swapped out for a different piece of furniture.  I haven’t quite figured that out yet.

And here is the whole mess!  LOL.  I have made attempts or some organization but as you can see, it’s fruitless when you have teenagers that just mess it up.

For more posts on the $100 Room Challenge, you should check out my Farmhouse Style Coffee Bar and my Farmhouse Style Laundry Room.

I really love participating in this challenge, not only is it the fun of the challenge of keeping to a specific budget, but it’s great motivation to get a room DONE!

This challenge is not just open to bloggers, if you want to participate, the more the merrier!  If you have any questions feel free to reach out on my contact page and I will be happy to help you get answers.

Stay tuned for the reclaimed wood wall, that’s my first project.  Fingers crossed that it doesn’t monopolize my whole budget!!!!!

You know what? On my tour of our new IKEA, I saw one room that had an old turn table as a decor item (I’ll have to take a picture for you next time I see it!). It’s so vintage, I’m sure you can take advantage of that!!! I can’t wait to see the rest of the room! And this view is soooo beautiful!

What a fun space to work on! Also, do they seriously make vinyl records of current artists? I had no idea. Excited to see all your plans come to life!

This is going to be great! I already love the flooring, and can’t wait to see how you pull it all together. (Now I wish I’d kept my record player from high school. My daughter would love it too!)
