It’s reveal day!  We made it through our $100 Room Challenge and I can’t say enough how much fun this was.  I definitely ran into some bumps in the road but it was all worth it.  In the end I now have this amazing coffee bar in my breakfast nook.  Stick around and check out the $100 Room Challenge Reveal!

Since last week….

Since last week I finished the coats of poly and purchased my plumbing pipes.  At the last minute I found out I needed to clear coat the pipes.  Shout out to Emy at Semi Gloss Design  for letting me know!  Thanks girl 😊

Once that was done it was time to put the industrial shelves together.  Man was I nervous!  I texted my friend Kris to tell her and she gave me a quick pep talk.  Thanks Kris!  In the end it was very easy to put it all together.  I screwed the first four flanges down then attached the pipes and other side of flanges then flipped it over onto another board and screwed it down.  Wash, rinse and repeat for the other boards.

It’s too short……..

Once I added the casters it became the perfect height!

Here is the chalk board wall after one coat.

Onto the wall shelves.  I purchased brackets from IKEA and stained stair treads to use as the shelf.  Regular boards are only about 3/4 of an inch thick (even though they say the are 1″) and leave an annoying gap.  There is no way my OCD would put up with that so I found this great tutorial over at where she used a stair tread!  My husband just cut off the round part and we were off to the races!

These teacups were my husbands Grandmothers.  She collected them and passed away about 18 years ago.  I am so happy to finally be able to display them.  On the top shelf so they don’t get broken!

Okay, so my writing needs work!  Good grief!!!!!  This was my first crack at modern calligraphy and well……it needs work!

And that coffee maker!!!!  HELLO!!!!  We got it as a wedding gift….21 years ago!  We didn’t drink coffee for about the first 10 years so this baby has only been used for 10/11 years.  It’s always been fine but now that I have this cool coffee bar I totally want to get a new one.  Maybe one that’s stainless steel…..(already starting to shop for it!).

Final overview….

As you can see it doesn’t take a lot of money to put together an amazing room.  Here is the breakdown of what I spent:

1 X 12 board – $13.25

Pipes – $16.96

Flanges – $31.52

Stair Treads – $17.74

Shelf Brackets – $20.00

Extra stain because I ran out !  –  $6.22

Grand Total of $105.69

I went a little over because I had trouble with stain….ran out with the back of one more board.  Talk about frustrated!!!!!

Shout out to Erin at Lemons, Lavender and Laundry for having this 4 week challenge.  I have enjoyed it so much.  I am already planning what room I will do next time!!!!!!

I love your floating shelves and chalkboard wall, but I love the display of your husband's grandmother's teacups even more! Beautiful job all around!!

I am inspired to do this with our house! I wanted a sideboard in an empty space that was very similar to yours in the dining room. However, we've realised it would be too much of a tight fit for a sideboard. This would be the perfect solution! Shelves aren't too deep, and the chalkboard wall would be so cheap and easy to do.

I had the same issue Sarah! I couldn't have anything too deep. This is only 12 inches, just enough to hold the coffee maker. LOL And the great thing is you can make it as wide as you want. I plan on making one for my kids hang out space and it will have to be much smaller. This one is 4 feet wide, the one I will make them will be 3 feet or less. Just have the wood cut to your dimensions at the store and it's all ready for you! I would love you to send me a picture if you do it!
