Fall Decorating Ideas using Nature

I have always been a big believer in taking cues from Mother Nature to use in decorating my home, no matter what time of year. So it makes perfect sense to use the colors of the trees and incorporate them into your fall decor.

Decorating with Pumpkins

What I love about this photo is using things you can find in your backyard to decorate with.  Find a broken branch, drill a few holes, and bam…instant votive candleholder!

Decorating with Pumpkins is key in the fall.  You can go all neutral or use colorful pumpkins, or mix and match!  Anything goes here!

Also, don’t think you have to use real pumpkins. Although they do come in amazing colors you can also use faux pumpkins and get the same look but they will last year to year.

Here are my favorite velvet pumpkins to use in my decorating. They are from Amazon and, in my opinion, are pretty reasonably priced.

Decorating With Other Backyard Finds

This is another example of using things you find in your backyard to decorate with!  Nature makes the best decor!

I just love putting wreaths on mirrors and on architectural pieces.  And this wreath is made from corn!  Yes, friends, that’s right, corn!!!!  What a great DIY project that you can easily do for fall!

Neutral Fall Decor

Neutral Fall Decor has been popular for many years now. I love the cream-colored pumpkins that you can get from a local farmer as well as neutral blankets and pillows that have a cozy texture to them.

Neutral Mantels

A mantel that has greenery as a base and a ton of white pumpkins on it as well as a thankful sign.

There is a lot of wow factor in this mantle with the neutral pumpkins and the beautiful farmhouse thankful sign!  I love how she used the flower stems to drape over the mantle and create a base for the decor.

I love the silver pumpkins, what a great use of a monochromatic look!  And the lamb’s ear in the vases is so pretty and acts as great book ends on the mantle.

Neutral Front Porches

This is one of my favorite front porches.

I love all the brick!  I love the dark trailing plant in the pots with the big round orb.

Plus the addition of different colored pumpkins.  I love this!  Can I move it to my house?

Neutral Family Rooms

Leanna has such a beautiful home.  I just love how she styled this console table.  These farmhouse signs for Fall are perfect!  And that ottoman, seriously, it’s to die for!

Neutral Dining Rooms

White dishes and white pumpkins, just a great way to use neutral colors in Fall decor.

Notice the tans and browns have a different texture than the whites. This is crucial in having an interesting space when using all neutral colors.

If you are into neutral decor this is totally for you.  The white pumpkins, the silver pumpkins, the sheaf of wheat, the cotton stems, and my favorite detail, the WREATH!!!!!

Neutral Table Settings

My friend Jen created an amazing tablescape here.  She was a genius using milk glass candlesticks with white tapers, the sheer volume of them makes this amazing.

I also love the green colors she used with the items found in nature as well as the cotton.

Here is neutral fall decor at its finest with the addition of the amazing copper mugs.  I absolutely love this look!

I love, love, love using copper in the Fall.  It’s so stylish and a great pop of color!  Paired with white ceramic decor like this great deer and potted plants are perfect!

Is this table gorgeous or what?!  I love the neutral pumpkins…are you seeing a theme here?  LOL.  This tablecloth is so pretty and I love the way she put the little wreaths around the white pumpkins, so cute!  I am totally going to try to recreate this one for sure.

Traditional Colors in Fall Decorating

You cannot go wrong with using traditional fall colors when decorating your home for Fall. Making sure you are consistent from room to room can help tie everything together.

Traditional Colors in the Dining Room

This picture speaks to me for three reasons, one I love the colors, two I love the wreath and three, the board and batten.  I recently put up board and batten in my dining room and it was a tough project but it has made an amazing impact on my home!

What better flower to use to decorate in the Fall than a sunflower?  Old soda bottles, wine, or liquor bottles make great vases because a lot of times they have really interesting shapes.

If you are into the colors of the season then this is perfect for you.

I love just going outside and using colors from nature to decorate with.  This is a great example of different colors you would see from the trees in the Fall.

And that pumpkin on the bottom shelf, its pages from a book!  So cool right!

Pumpkins, pumpkins, and pumpkins galore!  I especially love the three-tiered grapevine pumpkin.  Pumpkins and mums, great things to use on your front porch to decorate for the Fall.

What a pretty front porch!  I love the Adirondack chairs and the cornstalks that flank the front door.  The mums are really pretty too, lots of great colors!

This is one of my favorite blogs ever.  I love her home.  I feel like this photo incorporates a lot of what fall is about, cozy blankets, welcoming colors, and beautiful decor.

Fall Decorating Ideas Using Plaid

Fall and Flannel go hand in hand. That’s why I love using plaid flannels in my home decor. I have some great examples of it for you today.

Plaid is a perfect pattern for fall decor, especially when it’s flannel!  So cozy!  and I personally love neutral decor with the plaid as an accent color.  Just so calming and pretty!

Using earth tones is the perfect way to decorate for Fall.  Just go outside and look at the trees.  Nature gives the best cues for how to decorate, go with it!  Plus I love the flannel and cute booties!!!!

Another example of plaid!  Did I mention how much I love it?  And my friend Lauren does such a good job of decorating with it!

If you don’t like plaid then buffalo check is a very good pattern for fall.  You can find it in almost every color but I just love these gray pillows and the cute pumpkin and Rae Dunn mug….awesome!

Isn’t this just the picture of fall coziness?  She uses plaid and buffalo check!  Neutral decor too, I just want to grab that blanket and curl up on the couch for a nap!
