From Primary Bedroom Design to Guest Bedroom Ideas: 2026 Bedroom Trends
I am all about a cozy bedroom where you want to snuggle in and get a really good nights sleep, or a fabulous nap! I want to explore what is hot and new in bedroom trends for 2025 to give you that updated look and cozy feel.
Open floor plans have been popular for well over a decade and with that comes the need for a cozy refuge from the living spaces. Our bedrooms have become that refuge.
What we need in our bedrooms is different from one person to another. All bedrooms are different in size too.
One thing is for certain, there are great ways to decorate your bedroom for you and your home. Here are some amazing ideas that you can do no matter what size your bedroom is.

2026 Bedroom Design Trends
Post Covid we are all looking for a home that is calming and cozy. We need a space that is our getaway from the stresses of daily life. Here are some great ways to get the home you want.
Statement Headboards
One great way to create a space that is all your own is to create a statement headboard. This can be a wood headboard like I created for my bedroom and my daughter’s bedroom, or a fabulous upholstered headboard that has lots of texture.
Whatever way you decide to go, be sure it’s all about you and what you love.

This is my herringbone headboard that I created for my bedroom. I absolutely love the herringbone pattern so this fits my personality perfectly.

I created this headboard for my daughter. She likes a more modern and simplistic style so this headboard was perfect.
This gorgeous tufted headboard from Wayfair adds a lot of drama, from the tufting to the studs on the sides.
I also love the way it wraps around on the edges, kind of like wrapping you in a warm hug. This screams cozy on all levels.
Hidden Technology
We all love technology and the wonderful things it brings to our lives, but not all technology is nice to look at. Sometimes it can be quite an eyesore.
How do we incorporate this amazing technology into our bedrooms without having to look at it? Try hidden technology! It gives you the best of both worlds!
Some people love having tv’s in their bedroom, others hate it. This is a great option to hide the tv but still have one available should you want it.
Trending Bedroom Colors
There are two different ways to go here. There are two trends right now: neutral and dark.
Neutral spaces are great because they’re very calming. This trend has been around a while, but it’s still going strong.
Dark and moody is new and popular, let me tell you why. Having a dark bedroom is like wrapping yourself in a hug. It’s calming and great for those of us who have trouble falling asleep (that’s me!).
Does it matter what dark color you use? No, it doesn’t. I used Sherwin Williams Smokey Blue, which is dark but not super dark. Other people go full-on black. Whatever suits you, go for it.

This is my master bedroom. I have my statement piece of a herringbone headboard, which also adds texture, and dark walls.
I love the bold green color on these walls with the picture molding. The light fixture and the neutral bedding are a great juxtaposition to the dark walls.
Mismatched Furniture
Buying a whole room of matching furniture is boring. To create something special use mismatched pieces to create a designer look.
You don’t have to go crazy here. Maybe a nightstand on one side of the bed and a desk on the other.
If you don’t want them to be too mismatched make sure they have the same color or wood tone. This gives you the mismatched look but it’s easy on the eye.
Bold Lighting Choices
I always say that it’s the little things that make a room look well put together. Lighting is definitely one of those things.
My bedroom had an old ceiling fan straight out of 1985 and it didn’t have a light. Our bedroom was very dark, and we never used the fan.
I swapped it out for a lantern chandelier but opted for a silver finish for a touch more of a modern look.
I love this light fixture. It’s so bold and attractive and perfect for this gorgeous bedroom.
Biolithic Design
What the heck is this? Let me tell you.
The whole idea behind biolithic design is to connect people to nature. Bringing in elements such as plants, natural wood tones, and organic textures evokes nature’s calming influence in the bedroom.
Greenery such as plants and trees not only gives you the feel of the outdoors but also helps clean the air you breathe.
The textiles in the room can also help you feel more connected to nature. Think cotton, linen, jute, and seagrass.
I love having lots of plants in every room but this is a great way to bring such a fresh perspective to your bedroom. Adding plants brings life to your bedroom.
A Mix of Old and New
This is a fabulous way of creating a space that is special. Mixing new furniture with older pieces gives the bedroom a designer look but also gives it a feel of nostalgia.
I love to get pieces of furniture from my family and use them in my home. They aren’t super expensive but knowing that it once stood in my grandmother’s home is very special to me.
You can also find great antique pieces on Facebook Marketplace, Craigslist, and yard sales.
This gorgeous bedroom has a modern bed with updated bedding and an antique side table and what looks to be a vintage rug. They work perfectly together!
This antique headboard is just stunning especially with the formal bedding that is floor length. I love the modern pillows, the white wash on the walls and the gorgeous bench in front of the bed.

Floral And Botanical Prints
Florals used to be very hot about 20-30 years ago but they have made a huge comeback. But the difference is the size of the print that is trending now is much larger.
There are a lot of ways you can use floral and botanical prints in your bedroom. A great place to start is in your bedding. Another is in other textiles such as throw pillows and window treatments.
My favorite place to see a floral print would be on wallpaper. You can use wallpaper to create an accent wall with a botanical print. That is combining two of the trends into one place!
Statement Pieces
Everyone loves a good statement piece. This is typically a piece of furniture, such as a headboard or a unique chair.
But statement pieces don’t have to be furniture. They can be an amazing light fixture or chandelier, bedside table lamps, artwork on the walls, really, it could be anything.
It just needs to be something that stands out and draws the eye, making you say WOW!

The statement piece in my bedroom is for sure my headboard. I built this headboard, and I absolutely love the herringbone design.
Curved furniture is really trending this year, so if you want something to make a statement, give curves a try!
I absolutely love this curved chaise lounge. It gives the feel of being wrapped in a hug! I could totally curl up in a blanket and read a book in this chair.
This is a great example of adding curves to a bed. The corners are rounded (and to be honest this would save my poor shins from lots of bruises) and the headboard is curved as well.
Lots of Texture
Texture is sometimes hard for people to comprehend when it comes to decorating. Put simply, texture is how something feels or what your mind perceives as feeling.
For example, it can be a sisal rug on the floor or a crochet hanging plant holder. It can be chenille throw pillows or a piece of furniture with woven front drawers.
In rooms that are very neutral or monochromatic (meaning they are decorated all in the same color), texture is key to creating interest.
Here we have texture on the walls as well as the bed. The throw pillows mixed with the soft comforter and throw blanket give lots of dimension.
2026 Bedroom Trends and Design Ideas Inspiration
I love the hanging upholstered headboard. I also love the bench and the texture it adds.
What a gorgeous coastal bedroom! We have vertical shiplap on the walls and gorgeous upholstered bed with coastal colors in the linens. I also love the wonderful drapes for the window.
Another example of amazing draperies is this space. I love the black framed doors as well. They just invite you to walk outside.
The curved chaise in the corner is also fabulous. I could stay in this room all day!
Here is another example of curved furniture in the bedroom. Another thing I love about this room are the hanging pendent lights. This is great with smaller spaces that cannot accommodate a large side table for a lamp.
This is a great example of making use of all the spaces in your home. By building in the bed in this nook you free up a lot of floor space and bonus…more storage!
This room is very serene and cozy. The neutral colors used with the added botanicals really makes this space very comfortable.
I would call this room rustic and refined. The rustic beams and wood accents really warm up the space but the furniture, linens, and beautiful low table really refine the space.
I love the drapes and windows in this room as well as the bed that sits very low to the floor.
This space is gorgeous with it’s dark walls and luxurious bedding. I love the colors and the wood tones.
This room is boho and coastal all wrapped in one. This is also a great example of a statement light fixture!
While this room has several pink accents it’s not only for women. Although it does have a very feminine feel.
If you have tall ceilings like this room then it’s great to go for a four poster bed with a statement chandelier. Having the stall mirrors over the night stands also elevates the space.
This cozy farmhouse feel room has a gorgeous earthy color on the shiplap walls with lots of wood tones in the room. The colors in the room really have a grounded feel.
