Sherwin Williams Eider White

Sharing is caring!

I am super excited to share with you a new paint color review today! We are discussing Sherwin Williams Eider White and all the details that make up this gorgeous color.

Eider White is a warm color that is often overlooked and it really shouldn’t be. It’s a gorgeous off-white that has some amazing undertones that are perfectly on trend…but more on that in a minute.

If you love griege paint colors but want a light and brighter color Eider White might be perfect for you. It sits on the same paint chip as Repose Gray which is one of Sherwin Williams’ most popular colors. But it is lighter and brighter and considered more of an off-white than a greige.

What color is Eider White?

As I mentioned, Eider White is an off-white but it can look a little gray. It really depends on the lighting in the room.

In a really well-lit room with tons of natural light the color can look a little washed out but in a room that is a little darker with not as much natural light the gray really comes through.

So it really depends on what type of lighting you have in your space and what type of color you are going for.

Eider White’s Undertones

Eider White has gray in it but it also has a touch of purple. Now don’t worry, you won’t see the purple in most cases.

The only time you will really see the purple come through is in a room that has really warm lighting, such as south-facing or rooms with warm light bulbs.

Ninety percent of the time these purple undertones only show as gray.

What is the LRV of Eider White?

LRV stands for light reflective value and it is a scale from 0-100 measuring the amount of light a paint color reflects. Zero is the darkest black and 100 is the brightest white.

The LRV of Eider white is 73 which puts it squarely in the bright category. If you are looking to lighten and brighten a room this color will do the trick.

How to know if a paint color is right for you?

The best way to judge if a color is good for you then you will want to put a swatch on the wall and look at it over a few days. Look at it in different lights and decide if you really like it.

You can do this by getting a sample from the paint store and using a brush to put it up on the walls, but then you are left with a can that you can’t do anything with. Those samples are used with poor-quality paint and aren’t meant for use on your walls permanently.

I recommend going with Samplize. They are a company that will send you a 12X12 peel-and-stick swatch of a paint color that you can stick to the wall. When you are done just peel it off and throw it away.

It’s easy and much less messy!

What is the best white to paint the trim?

When you are painting the walls an off-white paint color it can be tricky to choose the right paint color for the trim. You can always paint the trim the same off-white as the walls or you can choose a contrasting color.

If you are going for a contrasting color to Eider White I would go with Benjamin Moore Chantilly Lace or Sherwin Williams Highly Reflective White.

These colors are both more neutral whites and will contrast nicely with the warm Eider White.

The Best Coordinating Colors to Sherwin Williams Eider White

Because this is a lighter and brighter color it goes with just about anything. I love pairing it with darker colors in the gray family or blue family.

It also looks amazing with greiges. Having a touch of warm gray in it makes this a perfect pairing.

I would stay away from pinks and purples because of the purple undertones in Eider White. Pairing it with pinks and purples might bring out those undertones…unless that’s what you are going for then by all means do it!

Eider White vs. Incredible White

These colors are very similar but as you can see they have definite differences. Incredible White has much more purple undertones than Eider White.

Eider White vs. Pure White

These two are so similar. Pure White is a bit more creamy than Eider White. Eider White also has a touch more depth of color than Pure White. Both of these colors are great choices.

Eider White vs. Agreeable Gray

Eider White is often called a light gray so I am comparing it with another light gray. As you can see Agreeable Gray is much darker and is more of a true greige color. Eider White is a warm toned color but not nearly as much as a greige color is.

Eider White vs. Snowbound

These two are also very similar colors. Snowbound is a touch more creamy as well as a bit lighter than Eider White.

Eider White vs. Shoji White

It’s easy to see the differences here. Shoji White has a lot more beige in it than Eider White. They are both very light and brighe colors but very different colors.
