2022 Cozy Christmas Home Tour

Sharing is caring!

Hello and welcome to the Celebrate Christmas Roundup hosted by Leen of Sand Dollar Lane. If you are coming here from Thistle Key Lane I want to wish you a hearty welcome! Today I am sharing my 2022 Cozy Christmas Home Tour specifically sharing my basement office/den space.

This room in my home has many names. It is my office but it’s also a family room for my kids so I call it an office/den.

I am very excited to share this space with you today. I usually decorate it but not a lot and it was a ton of fun to add so many Christmasy touches! My daughter was pretty happy with it too when she came home from college for the weekend.

Cozy Christmas Home Tour

This is the view of my basement office/den when you round the corner coming down the stairs. This room doesn’t get a ton of natural light during the summer because the back of the house is chock full of trees. When the leaves drop we get much more sunshine, even though there is a second-story deck outside the sliding door.

One of the first projects we did after buying this house was to stain these concrete floors. I love the look but paying for it was not an option. So we did them ourselves!

The wood on the wall was another project. The room needed a little something and I thought this was perfect!

On my desk, I created this small vignette. The felt tree I made last year and the vintage candles were given to us by my mother-in-law. It’s crazy to see the price tags on the bottom of them!

A vignette on my desk of a felt Christmas tree, a santa and angel candle and a clock.

On the coffee table, we have this basket that holds coasters, remotes, and this small pitcher from IKEA. I picked up some floral stems from Joann and couldn’t love more how simple it was and how well it turned out.

In the distance is my old record player from my high school years. My daughter wants to create a vinyl collection, which I totally support! In the rocker (which was my Mothers when she was a baby) are my kid’s Elf on the shelf.

I always felt the real Elf on the Shelf was a bit creepy so I picked up these cuter versions. Now my kids are grown so the Elves hang out here.

On the couch is my cute dog, Lilly. She was waiting patiently for me to finish taking pictures of everything (not!). I added some plaid throw pillows and a reindeer blanket for those cold nights.

The fireplace on the opposite side of the room is definitely a focal point. I wanted to have a fire going when I took pictures but this crazy warm weather prevented that!

On the hearth, I have this antique sled with a green velvet ribbon and sleigh bells hanging from it. These antique sleds are easy to find at antique stores and flea markets. You might even find one on Facebook Marketplace!

This is where I did the majority of my decorating. These built-ins are the best part of the room. They hold so much stuff! And I have this small tree that I flocked a couple of years ago that sits next to them. The kids love to sit and watch tv with the tree all lit up in white.

Bottlebrush trees were really popular in the mid-century but they have made a huge comeback! I love the different colors and heights.

Accessories on the built-ins consisting of lots of different types of Christmas trees, an advent calendar and a red candle with greenery.

This countdown to Christmas advent calendar I made last year for my daughter. Actually, I made three of them to give as gifts. They were so fun to make and even more fun to gift!

The advent calendar on my builtins and two bottle brush trees one is white and the other is silver.

On the other side of the built-ins houses my daughter’s snow globe collection as well as this Marine nutcracker.

The nutcracker is a bit of me and a bit of my husband. He served in the Marine Corps and I lived in Germany as a kid and my parents collected nutcrackers. When I saw this one I just had to have it!

There you have it! I hope you enjoyed a little tour through my basement office/den/family room space. It was fun to decorate for the holidays! Now make sure you head over to Feet Under My Table and check out her amazing Christmas decor!

What a beautiful space you have here Wendy. I'm sure you have a lot of fun in your office/den. Your plaid pillows are lovely but I think I was distracted by your sweet Lilly. I'm in love with your wood wall and how it has transformed this space. Merry Christmas!
