Sharing is caring!

If you’re looking for the perfect neutral paint color that balances warmth and sophistication, Sherwin Williams Amazing Gray might just be your answer. This versatile greige (a mix of gray and beige) has become a designer favorite for its ability to complement a wide range of styles—from modern farmhouse to classic traditional.

Amazing Gray creates a calm, inviting backdrop that works beautifully with both warm and cool accents. In this post, we’ll explore why this timeless hue continues to be one of Sherwin Williams’ most popular choices.

What are the Undertones of Sherwin Williams Amazing Gray?

Gray paint colors have either blue, green, or purple undertones. Amazing Gray has green undertones that lean close to a beige color, making it more of a greige than a gray

What is Amazing Gray’s LRV?

The LRV of Amazing Gray is 47, which puts it in the mid-toned range. What does that mean? It will have great contrast with a white trim color, but wouldn’t be fabulous for a whole home color palette.

In a bright room, this color will give you a depth of color, but in a dark room, it can feel very cave-like.

If you don’t know what LRV is, then you should check out my post on it here. It could save your bacon when choosing paint colors!

The gist of it is it’s a scale from 0-100 and the lower the number the darker and the higher the number the lighter.

How to know if a paint color is right for you?

The best way to judge if a color is good for you then you will want to put a swatch on the wall and look at it over a few days. Look at it in different lights and decide if you really like it.

You can do this by getting a sample from the paint store and using a brush to put it up on the walls, but then you are left with a can that you can’t do anything with. Those samples are used with poor-quality paint and aren’t meant for use on your walls permanently.

I recommend going with Samplize. They are a company that will send you a 12X12 peel-and-stick swatch of a paint color that you can stick to the wall. When you are done, just peel it off and throw it away.

It’s easy and much less messy!
